As a new academic year begins, XR educators face a rapidly changing landscape. New hardware, AI-powered creation tools, evolving student expectations, shifting budgets, and changing industry demands are forcing many of us to rethink what and how we teach.

This IXAlliance roundtable brings together faculty, researchers, and program leaders for an open discussion about teaching XR in 2026 and beyond. What tools and platforms are worth teaching? What skills are employers actually seeking? How are educators integrating AI into immersive media courses? What assignments, projects, and classroom approaches are working, and which ones are no longer serving students?

Rather than formal presentations, this session will be an opportunity to share syllabi, teaching strategies, successes, challenges, and emerging best practices with colleagues from across the IXAlliance community.
